Congratulations to Triinu Rätsepso and Merili Samuli on defending their theses in the Applied Chemistry and Gene Technology programme.
Triinu defended her master's thesis, The creatine analogue guanidinoacetate does not stimulate respiration in permeabilized mouse cardiomyocytes. Her work examined whether guanidinoacetate, a compound related to creatine, can support mitochondrial respiration in mouse heart muscle cells.
Merili defended her bachelor's thesis, Assessing phosphorylation, acetylation and protein synthesis in heart and skeletal muscles of creatine-deficient AGAT KO mice. Her research investigated molecular changes in heart and skeletal muscle in a mouse model of creatine deficiency.
