Congratulations to Kärol Soodla and Danila Gusev on defending their theses in TalTech's chemistry and biotechnology programmes.
Kärol defended her master's thesis in Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology, The expression and phosphorylation of AMP-activated protein kinase varies between intracellular compartments in a muscle specific manner. Her research examined how the expression and phosphorylation of the energy-sensing enzyme AMPK differs between intracellular compartments and muscle types.
Danila defended his bachelor's thesis in Applied Chemistry and Gene Technology, Expression of proteins involved in sarcoplasmic reticulum-mitochondria calcium signalling during postnatal development of rat heart. His work investigated proteins involved in calcium signalling between the sarcoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria as the rat heart develops after birth.
